Privacy Policy

How Swiss Finance Academy handles personal data on this website, in applications, in the student portal and at checkout. Last updated: September 2026.

This Privacy Policy explains how Swiss Finance Academy (“Swiss Finance Academy”, “the Academy”, “we”, “us” or “our”) collects, uses, shares and protects personal data when you visit this website, apply to a program, enroll in or buy a course, use the student portal, or contact us.

By using this website, submitting an application, creating a portal account or making a purchase, you acknowledge that your personal data will be processed as described here.

1. Who We Are

Swiss Finance Academy is an online educational academy, headquartered and administered in Zürich, Switzerland, that provides finance courses and programs.

For data protection purposes, Swiss Finance Academy acts as the data controller for personal data processed through this website and the student portal, except where a third-party provider acts as an independent controller for its own processing. The controller’s contact details are in Section 13.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Applications. When you apply to a program through the application form, we collect the details you enter: name, email address, telephone number, country, academic and professional background, the program you are applying for, and anything you write in free-text fields. If you attach a CV or résumé, we receive the file you upload (PDF or Word, up to 10 MB) and its contents.

2.2 Contact and enquiries. When you use the contact form, email us, or ask to be kept informed about new courses, we collect your name, email address and the content of your message.

2.3 Student portal accounts. When you create a portal account we store your email address, a hashed version of your password (never the password itself), the courses you are entitled to, and your progress through them (sections completed and when).

2.4 Purchases. Payments are processed by Stripe, a third-party payment provider. Card details are entered on Stripe’s pages and are not received or stored by us. We receive and keep a record of the purchase: the product, the amount, the date, the email address used, and Stripe’s transaction identifiers, so that we can grant course access, issue receipts, handle disputes and keep accounting records.

2.5 Information collected automatically. When you use the website or portal, our hosting and security providers record technical data such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages requested and timestamps, in server logs used for security, fault-finding and capacity planning. The portal sets a session cookie so that you stay signed in (see Section 10).

3. How We Use Your Information

4. Legal Bases for Processing (EU/UK)

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:

Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time by contacting us.

5. How We Share Your Information

Swiss Finance Academy does not sell personal data. We share it only as needed with:

Course content is delivered from our own content systems. Faculty and mentors see the work you submit and your progress so that they can grade and support you.

6. Data Retention

We keep personal data only for as long as needed for the purposes above. As a guide: application materials, including CVs, are kept while an application is under consideration and for a limited period afterwards so that we can respond to follow-up questions or a later application; portal accounts and progress records are kept while your account is active and for a reasonable period after; purchase and accounting records are kept for the period required by Swiss and other applicable law. When data is no longer needed it is deleted or anonymised.

You may ask us to delete your application materials or close your portal account at any time, subject to records we must keep by law.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

Requests can be sent to the contact details in Section 13. If you are in the EU or UK you may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In Switzerland, the competent authority is the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).

8. Security

We use technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect personal data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, access controls and limited access to admissions and portal systems. Payments are handled by Stripe using industry-standard security.

No system can be guaranteed fully secure. Please use a strong, unique password for the portal, keep it private, and tell us at once if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.

9. International Data Transfers

The Academy operates internationally and uses service providers that may process data outside your country of residence, including in the United States and the European Union. Where required by law, such transfers are made under appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses or other recognised transfer mechanisms.

10. Cookies and Similar Technologies

The public website does not set tracking or advertising cookies. The student portal sets a strictly necessary session cookie so that you stay signed in; it is deleted when the session ends or you sign out. If we introduce analytics or other non-essential cookies in future, we will update this policy and, where required by law, ask for your consent before setting them.

11. Children

Our programs are intended for university students, graduates and professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates are posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date. If a change materially affects how we process your data, we may also notify you by email.
